I am so proud to have a painting included in this exhibition – especially since Brighton is my home town, and I grew up going to the open houses with my mum, Annie Robinson who happened to be the director of the friends of the Brighton festival for years.
My association with cake and art started around this time …..

Painting changed me, instead of feeling a helpless muddle, inadequate in any given situation, doomed to be a misfit, an urgent purpose gave me direction.
Using paint as a medium of transport, as it were, I found a way to cast out my inner confusion. The untidiness inside me was tidied up in my painting.
Since that day I have been impelled either to paint or write, if I stop for a period of a week, I get tangled up again. To explain my compulsion in another way: life to me is a muddle, and my way of making a harmonious pattern from the muddle, is to invent order in my work.
The pattern must be remade every day if I am to keep my spirit calm and serene.
Couldn’t resist posting this I’ve been updating my website and saw it in my photographs of interiors – owned by a lovely collector who normally chooses much larger pieces – nestling in their study – Sussex Uk
And just letting you know my Instagram account kate_scott_paintings is now safely back with me – apologies again to anybody who received DM messages up until 23rd March – I am very grateful to say all is now well. This will be pretty special time for me, I will be in my paintings with my oldest incredibly inspiring and hard working art friend Susanne Winter- we met on our foundation course almost 40’years ago – and now we get to share a stand together!
Both of us have a visceral sense of colour that recalls a memory of a time or place and connects the viewer to a memory or emotion that cannot be defined.
Welcome Deluge Kate scott and Intuition – Susanne Winter
