I had a great experience recently, a friend asked me if she could borrow some paintings to help stage her house for sale.
It’s a very gorgeous house, very calm and full of light, with lots of existing great art, including one of mine she bought previously.
But she gave me permission to make some suggestions and to edit what was already there and it was great fun, very easy and energising!
After so many occasions hanging work in various places, I seem to have a bit of a natural instinct for where things would work, and what might need to be taken away for excisting things to shine.

We played around, moving things, removing others, adjusting heights of paintings to work better in rooms, and changed some furniture around, and added some flowers for the photographs, and she was thrilled, the house sold after the first viewing luckily.
This is something I’m going to look into doing more often perhaps working with an estate agent in the future, I think it’s great to show how Contemporary art can work in domestic spaces, and elevate them.

Common Ground. Exhibiting together previously has allowed us to develop a combined aesthetic and kindness in choice of work and its curation, exploring our collective relationship between abstraction, colour, adornment and function in 2 and 3 dimensional work.
The Regency Town House provides the perfect setting to develop this further, demanding as it does a strong dialogue and coherence between the elegance of pared back Regency architecture and the works exhibited in this glorious space.

There’s a very lovely synthesis between all these artists, we all get in so well, and respect each others work enormously, I have shown with them all before and five of us have been part of my Open House in May for the last two years see here to look at our Instagram feed for No1 Rigden Road – which opens as part of Brighton Artists open houses.
And Susanne Winter has been my close friend for many years when we first met at art college in Hastings, and have shown together in art fairs and exhibitions over the years.
I look forward to seeing some of you at this show, we will be there every day it is open, 11am-6pm
