This couple came to see my work in a gallery last year, they had been following my work and seen a couple of my paintings in a friends home and were so appreciative, and resonated with a lot of my work, but they couldn’t find, or decide on ‘the one’ at that time – I remember saying, ‘Maybe I just haven’t painted it yet’, and this was right.
I knew, or had an inkling, as this painting emerged, that it may well be the one they decided to have.
It looks fantastic in their totally chic home. Which is a mixture of sleek contemporary lines, with amazing vintage finds and a very specific clear colour palette try that works with this pretty bold and raw painting –
Rapeseed Field – in Darkness
So lovely always to receive photographs of paintings in situ; Night tidal what is inspired by late night lockdown walk to the beach; the moon reflected on the inky water; this collector also has ‘Tidal’ a slightly larger – piece about the sea in Kefalonia Greece – I am very grateful that she decided to have them both in 2020 – a difficult year for showing work – this kind of support keeps us going.
Delivered this painting – one of the two largest ones I made in lockdown Summer 2020 to a collector – looks wonderful in the space – perfect light – this is such a privilege to see my paintings in their new homes #gratitude #artcollector #artforinteriors #hove
