Three Abstract Artists create timeless pieces that explore memory, transcendence and absence as presence. Their individual processes involve layering and excavation and are amplified by the Regency Town House, undergoing gentle restoration.

The title, ‘A House Safe for Tigers’ is adopted from the 1975 soundtrack by Lee Hazlewood and conjures a vivid dissonance between the domestic and the wild, the magical and the mundane.

Lovely image of recently delivered painting in new owners georgeous home

This couple came to see my work in a gallery last year, they had been following my work and seen a couple of my paintings in a friends home and were so appreciative, and resonated with a lot of my work, but they couldn’t find, or decide on ‘the one’ at that time – I remember saying, ‘Maybe I just haven’t painted it yet’, and this was right.

I knew, or had an inkling, as this painting emerged, that it may well be the one they decided to have.

It looks fantastic in their totally chic home. Which is a mixture of sleek contemporary lines, with amazing vintage finds and a very specific clear colour palette try that works with this pretty bold and raw painting –

Feeling very grateful

I am still resting and processing the amazing madness of May – the month that is the most intense for artists in Brighton and Hove Uk.

Christian Funnel’s sculptures at our POP UP at 1 Rigden Road – so proud I made this happen!

It sometimes feels like a crazy helter-skelter of deadlines, followed by quietness but mostly I am so proud and happy from all the plans that came to fruition, the connections made and the new friends collectors supporters who flowed towards me, and the amazing artists I exhibited with – and the capacity for open minded appreciation of the Humans who made the effort to visit us in three different venues.

And the people who have come since to the studio to see the work; something I really enjoy – contact me info@katescottpaintings.com to arrange a visit
