The Rebchat podcast – Episode 17. Perspectives from Contemporary Painter Kate Scott

open.spotify.com/episode/2mEQJkcfhTzZBRIHVnwj71

I was so lucky to be invited to talk with Cathy Dixon, the lovely host of ‘The Rebchat’, a platform that has conversations with, and shares stories from a wide range of creatives.

We talked about how I came to be an artist, my process, early failures and the pivots that created in my life, early influencers, resilience, redundancy and wellbeing.

It was a lovely opportunity to see what came out with her thoughtful questions.

Last day today Sunday 7th November

It’s been a wonderful week of showing with this fantastic bunch of 21 artists and makers in this inspiring space – it has been so harmonious and positive and well recieved – one day left – I will be there all day today 12am-4pm The Regency Town House 13 Brunswick Square Hove BN3 1EH

‘After I Swam’ resplendent in the afternoon sun
Last day Sunday 7th November 11am-4pm

Sharing this image of ‘Welcome Deluge’ at home

This painting is pat of a pair made for the window of Gallery 40 in Brighton – and looked rather lush and rain forest inviting as you approached from the top of the road.

The title refers to the refreshing relief that can come with rainfall after humid days or tears falling after emotion has been felt but not expressed – sometimes unexpected – potentially uncomfortable but ultimately cleansing – many layers – pretty optimistic in the end – available with me to be viewed at my studio – contact me at info@katescottpaintings.com

It’s sister painting ‘After I Swam’ will be exhibited at the ‘Out Of The Blue’ Exhibition Regency Town House 13 Brunswick Square, Hove, BN3 1EH where I am so proud to be showing with 20 other artists in this amazing historical building. It will be wonderful – preview 7-9pm Thursday 4th November

Meeting up with Freddie Robins @iamfreddierobins

@kathandcompany Gallery in Twickenham London – one weekend only unfortunately but I managed to catch her – must be 30 years since we last met – and it was as if we’d seen each other the week before.

We were at the same 6th form college in Brighton, and then were amongst the very few art students who went to Hastings College of Art and Technology for our foundation course, both disappointed at first not to go to Brighton, it actually became the most positive and influential accident of fate for us both, a wonderful course, incredible teachers, including legendary Rod Harman, unique life long friendships made and inspirational learnings.

Freddie is now a professor at the Royal College of Art and makes totally thought provoking feminist mixed media pieces that need to be seen in the flesh to be appreciated – I am so honoured to have been able to be in contact again – the gallery is amazing and is hosting 12 artists over 12 weeks bookable online http://www.newartathome.co.uk
