The Rebchat podcast – Episode 17. Perspectives from Contemporary Painter Kate Scott

open.spotify.com/episode/2mEQJkcfhTzZBRIHVnwj71

I was so lucky to be invited to talk with Cathy Dixon, the lovely host of ‘The Rebchat’, a platform that has conversations with, and shares stories from a wide range of creatives.

We talked about how I came to be an artist, my process, early failures and the pivots that created in my life, early influencers, resilience, redundancy and wellbeing.

It was a lovely opportunity to see what came out with her thoughtful questions.

Happy Days – Exhibiting

Here I am standing outside @gallery40 central Brighton, UK, in October 2021. We were about half way through a happy week during the exhibition ‘Elemental’ with the sculptor Jo Delafons.

This shows the easy bit, when you’ve done all the admin, emailing, label printing, hanging, curating , preview planning and you just have to turn up and receive all the lovely visitors and friends and patrons – which makes it all worth while; the connecting is incredible and grateful making.

So I am at the very early stages of planning for this years shows – so far three collaborations two with @artistsopenhouses during Brighton Festival in May , and one later in the year in Storrington, Sussex.

I will be posting as I make progress mainly on my Instagram page @kate_scott_paintings and doing my best to make time for my own practice in the studio while loving the creative process of working with other artists to bring an exhibition together

Let me know if you would like to be invited to the shows when we are ready to send out invites

Sharing this image of ‘Welcome Deluge’ at home

This painting is pat of a pair made for the window of Gallery 40 in Brighton – and looked rather lush and rain forest inviting as you approached from the top of the road.

The title refers to the refreshing relief that can come with rainfall after humid days or tears falling after emotion has been felt but not expressed – sometimes unexpected – potentially uncomfortable but ultimately cleansing – many layers – pretty optimistic in the end – available with me to be viewed at my studio – contact me at info@katescottpaintings.com

It’s sister painting ‘After I Swam’ will be exhibited at the ‘Out Of The Blue’ Exhibition Regency Town House 13 Brunswick Square, Hove, BN3 1EH where I am so proud to be showing with 20 other artists in this amazing historical building. It will be wonderful – preview 7-9pm Thursday 4th November
