Sky scapes

I’ve found an addictive little creative pursuit of splicing my photographs from daily walks, often in sunset with slices of images from my paintings – really interesting seeing the relationships that are there not always consciously noted. Helping to make sense of the internal and external world and experiences of the current situation here in lockdown May 2020.

Also I made a recording zoom interview last night with my friend Artist Julie Allan interviewing me about my practice, inspiration etc last night, really fun to do, I will do the same for her soon and will edit and release it soon. Watch this space, hope everyone is well.

I am really looking forward to contributing to this initiative and will be putting these paintings on Instagram, please contact me either by email, through this website or direct message on Instagram @katescottpaintings. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have found themselves without work, teaching, technical support, gallery work. Exhibitions and sales have disappeared. In an attempt to help alleviate some of this stress @matthewburrowsstudio has instigated the ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE #artistsupportpledge The concept is a simple one. You post images of your work you are willing to sell for no more than £200 each (not including shipping.) Every time you reach £1000 of sales you pledge to buy another artist’s work for £200. So make a pledge and post your work with the #artistsupportpledge follow @matthewburrowsstudio to keep updated and the # to see everyone else’s work. Repost and tell your friends, colleagues and collectors. Let generosity be infectious #supportartists #contemporaryart This creates a dynamic culture and market, where all can contribute, whatever their level of success. This is a culture dependent on the honesty and generosity of our artistic communities at every level. So make a pledge, post your work with the #artistsupportpledgel Paintings for Artists support pledge

My contribution to open Windows 2020

In the postponed period of Brighton Artists Open Houses 2020 due to social isolation period there has been a brilliant idea to get local artists to exhibit their paintings in the windows of their own house; here is my contribution, harder than it looked to attain, the large pieces looked very sad indeed but this little framed piece worked nestled in the corner of our front window.

Always interesting to get a different perspective on our work as artists; didn’t feel brave enough to leave it there long, but I am definitely feeling inspired to keep painting and appreciating having a studio at home and a garden to go and commune with nature and get inspired – being in flow with painting is one very good way to forget for a few moments/ minutes about COVID 19; I hope anyone reading this is staying safe and sane in these very strange times.
