Press release Art At Zerb’s 2019

Art At Zerbs is An exciting new open house – situated at 188 Dyke Road BN1 5AA, opposite the Boat Theatre– joining the Dyke Road Arts trail. 

It a large house and beautiful garden owned by Jan and Linda Zerb who ran the much loved Zerb’s Café in Gardner Street, in the 1980’s and 90’s, they were the first café in Brighton to exhibit and sell artwork for local artists, many of whom worked there part time. 

They are collectors of Art and have had connections with the Artists Open Houses over their years in   Brighton. 

 

Linda and Jan are collaborating with Angela Evans Ceramicist @angela_evans_tiles (of 2 Knoyle Road and many other open houses) and abstract artist Kate Scott @katescottpaintings who also showed at 2 Knoyle Road and exhibited successfully last year at The Wolf At The Door open house in Hove, and also last year in her own home. 

 

Together they have curated a rich mix of artists and makers to exhibit and sell in this beautiful house and garden; amongst the people exhibiting alongside them will be Sarah Jones  printmaker and illustrator from Milton House @sarah_jonesillustration , John Haywood @brusheswithwatercolour exsquisite paintings, Keri Zerb  quirky modern upcycled jewellery, David Cheetham-acrylic painter , Dna Brighton @dnabrighton bespoke  bags providing stylish one off accessories, Kris Botterill from the Pamper Pod selling  Zephorium aura sprays and Neal’s Yard products , Emily Boo upholstery @emilyboo3 and Philippa Stanton @5ft are making a site specific chair installation specially for the house, Linda Calvert  will be exhibiting her amazing delicate ceramic lamps and lastly inside we have Anna Cates  unique organic wood turned pieces @annawoodturner . 

  In the garden we have striking wood carved sculptures by very established Brighton  artist Si Uwins @si.uwins  , Andrew Jones fascinating kinetic moving sculptures @rhobile_kinetic_ , and finally Annie McMullan @anniemcmullan9  beautiful  fused glass sculptures will be glistening in the garden . 

 

There will be delicious cakes, brownies, coffee tea and cakes served and places to eat in the lovely garden. 

 

We will be open every weekend in May and both bank holiday Mondays`11am – 6pm `
